List of “Social Work Journals” by Hodge et al. (2021)
Since social work is an applied social science, many social work researchers submit their articles to various journals, such as psychology, sociology, gerontology, family studies, gender studies, public health, or psychiatry, depending on their research topic and field.
Meanwhile, the social work academia has put a lot of effort into developing a journal exclusively for the social work discipline. However, the well-known ranking (SJR) includes the journals in other departments. It is not able to reflect the real influence of the journal in the field since social work journals started to be published relatively recently.
Accordingly, Hodge et al. (2021) rank social work journals by collecting opinions from social work faculty and impact factors. I recommend reading the paper above for details, but I share the list for those who don’t have access to the journal website.
